Sparks Program Cover

This is the program cover I drew for our high school's production of "Sparks in the Park". I also drew five or six different versions of a t-shirt design for the show, but they won't be used. Eh, they were crap anyway...crap that took me a really long time, but still crap. This is why I'll never be able to make a career out of art--I can't draw something very well if I'm not inspired to draw it.

The minute Kathy asked me to draw a program cover I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like. This is a pretty good representation of what I originally had in my mind. It's Barry holding a script with a few of his characters coming out of it, coming to life in a sense. In case you were wondering, the characters are the doctor from the assylum (Schmeer? I forget), one of the agents (I can't make up my mind which it is--a cross between both) and the duke aka Guy (tried to get one character from all the different plays Barry wrote so it would be representative of his work as a whole.) I purposely made their heads bigger in a cartoony style. However, one thing that frustrated me was Caleb's character--he came out looking like a fairy (the pointed chin.) I don't know. I tried fixing it. It looks a little better now than it did originally.

Oh, and about the writing...let me tell you, I had some fun with that--lol! One of the pages Jayden's holding says "Random Words" on it. You can read it yourself, but I thought I'd menton it. The rest of the pages are about certain plays he's written and all the swirling words around the characters are completely random without any meaning, save for a few. I tried to put in words that were relevant to the show. Then across Caleb's head it mentions peanut brittle (I couldn't resist--that show will always be a part of me. I guess it's a way of leaving my mark on this show after doing some stupid stuff.) I don't know about the "cheese" part, I guess I was thinking along the lines of "orange-cheese sandwhich" and thought it'd be cool if "Sparks" was coming off the "s" of another word, kind of tying the entire thing together.

If you're not part of MHS theater you have no idea what that^^^^was talking about. Sorry to waste your time.
