Literature Text

Raindrops.
Raindrops.
Raindrops on butterfly wings.
Dreams and clouds
And beautiful things.
Such beautiful things
Should come in pairs.

Up and down.
Up and down.
The tide quietly creeps;
The stars sing softly madrigals
As the gold moon sleeps.
Such beautiful things
Should be together.

A window.
A window.
A window view of earth.
Dance, skip, walk, jog--
Run, for what it's worth.
Such beautiful things
Always die.
I wrote this on a total whim this morning. I was in the library, during my free period, with nothing better to do. I was considerably tired, and so this lullaby-type poem resulted. I imagine reading it to a child on a rainy evening, comfy under quilts, listening to the rain tapping softly on the roof. I love the rain. I guess that's why I wrote about it. It's not really pessimistic at the end, though it may seem that way--it's simply urging people to take time to appreciate the simple, beautiful things in life that are all around us that we always seem to rush past.

I love the rhythmic structure---like raindrops against a windowpane :)

good message too...everything changes, everything dies, but no one knows when it will happen...
